Walking in the forest with picnic and live greek music in Portaria, traditional greek village of Pelion
Departure from small Adamena’s square at 11:00 on foot. Our little journey begins from a stone path in the forest. Alongside the path flow mountain streams, creating in some places small waterfalls. On our way we will pass some old wooden bridges and you will feel the freshness of meltwater and
the dew of old beeches.
According to the myth exactly here was the Kingdom of Centaurs and in their realm, the Olympian Gods spent their vacations, weddings and celebrations.
At this place the goddess Eris inscribed an apple “to the most beautiful ” and tossed it in the midst of the feast of the gods at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, thus sparking a vanity-fueled dispute among Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite that eventually led to the Trojan War.
After a half-hour climb on forest trail we will rich the end of the path, the Mana Water Spring. There we’ll have the picnic in the nature as modern Olympic gods, with greek music which will last about 60-90 minutes.
Then we will return to the village through the old stone path, between the traditional mansions and manors of 18th-19th century. On our way we will visit a Church of Gt. Nicholas and of Holy Mother Portareas (13th century). After our group will depart from Portaria.
